Metalcore and hardcore are hard to distinguish, but metalcore tends to have a alternation between heavy and clean vocals, and usually has a standard, mid-fast tempo sound (also breakdowns galore). There are other differences, but it's hard to explain.

Yeah, I'd rather listen to something less 80s-ish. My favorite overall would be 70s music, but I really like the Beatles, too.
