is that most rap songs are about the same thing (drugs are just an example).
This did it, I think.

Rap Songs not about Drugs

Macklemore:  He even has songs about trying to get clean.  He has many none drug songs.

Thrift Shop
Can't Hold Us
Same Love<--- Personal Fav

Kid Cudi:  A renown stoner, but still has songs not about drugs.

Alive(Nightmare)
The Prayer<--- Personal Favorite for me

K'NAAN:  He immigrated from Somalia to the States at a young age and raps about social and world issues.  I can't even find one about drugs.

Take a Minute

Hopsin:  Crazy mutha forgeta.  Bashes the image of rap today and our generation in general.

ILL MIND OF HOPSIN PART VI

Kanye West:  Biggest name on this list.  Even he doesn't go overboard about talking about drugs.  I tried looking for some but I don't listen to too much of him.  Mostly because he like Fish Sticks...

Monster
Dark Fantasy

Dood, you just need to open your mind.  Don't limit yourself to one genre of music.  I use to not like rap, but now I not only love it but I love all other genres if not at least open to it.

And, if your not going to be open-minded keep your bigot comments to yourself or stop complaining about people bashing you for these said bigot comments.

Yeah, I give up.

After all that I can safely say I still absolutely despise rap and it still makes me grit my teeth whenever I hear it.

And that is perfectly fine.  Just be open about other types of music then your own preferred one.  I try to understand the reasons people like certain things and leave my own opinion apart from it.

Also, generalizing often just shows that any personal research into the subject is lacking.

The songs listed are not stereotypical rap.

Finally...
No, I am giving up on people who keep saying things that aren't even true. Like this:
And, if your not going to be open-minded keep your bigot comments to yourself or stop complaining about people bashing you for these said bigot comments.
Please, enough is enough.

We have already settled this. There was a misunderstanding and now it has been resolved. Look at the previous posts.

Whether or not it's mainstream changes nothing. Rap music has a certain sound to it, a certain beat that I cannot stand in the slightest.

Just like metal has a terrible sound to it. In fact, from what I've seen most modern music has a terrible sound to it that I can't really place.

This is basically how I feel. There's just a certain way those types of genres sound that makes me not like them.

I looked through and the only thing that was resolved was the context of your argument:  Title Change

1. I know what rap is.
2. It doesn't, I am not saying there isn't a single rap song I like. I like very few though.
3. Stating my opinion doesn't make me ignorant. My opinion (I haven't counted) is that most rap songs are about the same thing (drugs are just an example).

If you know what rap is you would know that drugs are not the most talked about subject.
If your opinion is ignorant than it makes you ignorant since your opinions come from you, or at least I hope they do.

You must like rap.

It's just opinion anyways. I just think people would get tired of hearing almost every song be about drugs. I know I would.

Another sweeping generalization.  ^^^This is where you sweep rap under one category, just in case you don't remember.
What makes me dumb? I do admit that I am a bit ignorant about rap music because I don't listen to it. I mainly hear the rap songs my friends play and they are all about the same things. In earlier posts, I am not saying that all rap songs are like this and I think that is what is getting people confused. They think I am throwing all rap songs under one category when I am not.

I feel like I am the only one here who actually listens to this music. Does anyone else listen to bands like The Who, or Yes, or Pink Floyd?

I don't think you understand how many people, even here, listen to these guys and others from their respective eras.  Even the bands you don't prefer love those legends and take much of their unique aspects based off of them.

Are there any bands that actually have a guitarist, a bassist, a lead singer, and a drummer that doesn't sound like crap and isn't hard rock or metal?

You have restricted yourself to seeing music as a scene.  What if a song was made to perfectly impersonate these instruments and be good?  If you didn't know the context of the song you would consider the song like any of the other songs you consider legitimate.

This is basically how I feel. There's just a certain way those types of genres sound that makes me not like them.

And again that is fine, just don't make generalizations.  If you do make these generalizations be ready to be proven wrong over and over.  Few generalizations can be true and they are nearly impossible to prove.

OP is biased poop
today's music can be great - just like classic music
gonna go listen to regina spektor, flobots, and los campesinos now

Regina Spektor!

This entire topic is my opinion. Whenever I said that rap is only about one thing, I actually meant that most of the rap I have heard is about only a few things that get boring after a while. This has already been cleared up anyways.

All of your arguments against my opinions are also opinions...

It doesn't matter if it is your opinion or not.  If people think it is wrong they will refute it.  Stop pulling that card

You think "making generalizations is bad" is an opinion?

I get that my hypothetical situation was an opinion and my comment on being open-minded is pretty opinionated, but being open-minded is pretty well accepted opinion in my opinion of course...

As said before, an opinion can't be right or wrong, that's what makes it an opinion.
