Author Topic: Blockland Clans  (Read 1682 times)

What is the point of clans? Is it to see how many people you can get to put their name down in your clan? Is it an ego thing? Literally every clan I see relies on two things.
1. How pretty/shiny the logo is
2. How well someone's organization skills are.

You have your clan topic, 10 members, and a few build pictures. What then? Everyone goes inactive, they get lazy and nothing gets accomplished. This is just about every clan in Blockland. IMO clans are overrated and predictable. Someone please stop this vicious cycle of clanning.

Nah. I know I'm in a clan. And I know we're all lazy and inactive. It doesn't diminish the fact that this post isn't true. It just helps prove the point.

The point of clans is for a number of people to work for a purpose, whether it be building, eventing, making add-ons or whatever else you can do. Doing a single thing on your own can be very time consuming, especially when it comes to building. If i recall correctly; aren't some of the default builds in Blockland created by a clan?

it's a gimmick in a sense
a way for others to organize events or create recreational activities within the game itself minus the demeaning aspect of being alone
it's a way for you to build or house contests with friends and just in general have fun

IT'S A TEAM
WE CAN DO ANYTHING
TOGETHER~

hey guys join my clan, its called Kustom Kart Kreators! to join put [kool kids klub] on ur name!
/joke

really clans is just like matchmaking, people see it and join, do stuff together, and post it. it'll end at some point.

clans use to have a purpose. and we competed and we ohad nothing but quality builds throughout Blockland.

but it kinda went away.

I actually blame the update that allowed for no more need to port forward, and all the hosting services we have had.
because now everyone wants his own glorious server to be his legacy, and everyone is alone these days. lol

Clans are basically just a group of friends who build together.
You're just looking at it bad because of the name "clan" attached to it. I'm sure if you and your friends made collab builds from time to time, you wouldn't be complaining about it even though you would be technically "inactive" as a building group (see bolded part).

It's not like because you're in a "clan" that you have nothing to do in real life and can produce things 24/7. People have overlapping schedules which makes it difficult to all be on and building at the same time.

Best building clans in BL as of right now. It's pretty obvious that you don't visit this section of the forums often/care to look around and are basing your opinions off of idiots you see on servers with clan tags.

It's common sense not to join a clan named "Awesome Alliance of Blockland"; you know they wont do jack stuff.
Also, you're looking at things from the outside. Just because the members don't post every hour in the clan topic doesn't mean that they are inactive. Most clans talk at least 3-4 times as much in-game through RTB. Topics are just a way of organizing the information.

Clans don't affect you in any way. It's not like you're forced to join one; if you want to join one, do so, if you don't, don't. You act like seeing 4 letters in front of someone's name or having a section dedicated to clans is a crime.

1. you're in a stuffty clan that notoriously does nothing and gets revived to do nothing once again
2. a lot of clans are like that and die out, but the clans evar has pointed out actually do things and have fun and make builds. but way to get everybody not on your side by dismissing every clan in forever - real bravo there

10/10 post

The best community in my opinion is Scattered Space. We have been around since 2006 (?), have regular (weekly) events where we get together to play games, have hosted many popular servers (Wizard's Dogfight, Vehicle Wars, Block City), and are currently working on builds and scripts for some new servers.

Edit: I also like the groups that Evar listed.

Yeah, here's one of the planning threads for it. I think it will be a space theme this time around.
