Author Topic: whats with all these cryptic ARG topics  (Read 4368 times)

Stop already. I hope Badspot starts banning people who keep saying "/support" and not contributing to anything else.
/notsupport

It's like cheering at an election or something, if you like what you hear, and you support it, you'll cheer or say something good.
Since we can't cheer here, we say /support.
Stop being butthurt about one word that's been used for years and now you people are deciding that it's stupid.

Don't forget the "Get on the ---" Threads

Don't forget the "Get on the ---" Threads
They are fun and interesting to do.

What about all the other frequently remade threads, like the ones Nal is talking about?
Don't forget the "Get on the ---" Threads
What about all of the you laugh you lose threads that have been made and remade millions of times?

While you are entitled to your own opinion, the majority of the forum seems to like them, so as long as that is the case, we will probably have more.  ARGs are fun imo, and if you don't want them, just ignore them.

Mura's was executed and planned out very well. There is also the fact that it isn't fully answered, leaving you to think on what it might have been.

i wouldn't mind if someone made one that was actually really interesting, people need to plan them out for long periods of time before posting. I love a good mystery.

Oh dear, people are trying to be creative and have some fun, beyond just posting a YouTube video without description or discussing random stuff for a page and a half.

We definitely need to put a stop to that.

Seriously, there's nothing wrong with people doing things like these.
It's just a bit of fun and it lets people try and be creative.
It's a community mystery game. Why aren't there more things like that?
I personally want to see more mysterious community games and things. A forum-wide Cluedo game, where 1 member is subtley infected and has to pass it on or something, giving very subtle clues in their speech as they go about the forums.

If it really gets on your nerves, then why don't you simply skip over the topics?
Sure, the titles might not start off with "Playing an ARG in here", but once you've clicked on it once, you're readily capable of pressing backspace and leaving again.

The only time that it's even credible to complain about multiple topics is when those topics are breaking the rules, or cross-posting, or happen to be identical. Just of note, these things aren't identical, even if they're the same sort of thing.
Two fan-threads for a TV show would be having useless identical topics.

For everything else there's always something else on these forums.
If an ARG is unsuccessful (just of note Maxx, try planning it a lot more in advance) then the topic will die. No need to worry about it.
If its successful, then you just ignore that one topic out of the many out there, or you can decide to enter and join in on the fun.

^this^

Seriously why can we have all these megathreads for all these different things but we can't have a good ARG every so often like OP would prefer?

i did one before Mura's and i got banned because i'm too good at hiding things

everything
^^^He's right. The point of the ARG topics is to test the mind of us and solve the mystery, and overall have a fun and interesting experience. The same goes for You Laugh You Lose, Get on the <object>, ect.

OP is the walking definition of serious.

Because they lose their magic when a new sub-par rushed copy comes out every day. Most of them belong in Community Projects.

I'm fine with ARG topics, it's just when many are made within a small period of time, it gets repetitive and annoying. It's ok to have one once in a while.

How is it possible to be banned for an ARG?

How is it possible to be banned for an ARG?
it must have had outright spam posts or something

like, just having a bunch of binary as the only content of a post

binary turn into a download link, download was some sounds, and no one could get further
