Author Topic: Great, Canada wants to filter out research too.  (Read 2821 times)

Bloody hell, it seems some people are just unnecesarilly bat-stuff paranoid about their government.

By the way, you're living in a democratic country. You get to vote (or atleast your parents probably do).
If you don't like things, make a political stand. It's not impossible for you to get involved in politics.
And by the way, I don't mean gathering guns to make a civil uprising or something stupid. That's not a reason to keep guns.

These are laws being introduced in other countries.
How many people that upset here are actually from Canada or the UK or are able to vote in those countries?

These are ideas and laws being introduced by the representatives of people who voted them in.
You can't stand there and tell them they aren't allowed to do it when they're working on other peoples behalf.

Just because you're an over-entitled teenager, with no ability to vote, who touches their richard too much, doesn't mean that your opinion is at all wanted on the matter.
None of you are parents, none of you have young children who are readily at access to such graphic material.
Don't go telling me it's easy to stop people getting on research sites as a parent.
How many of them are out there that you would never know about?
Do you really think a child is going to turn away every time they see a page asking if they're 18?

These sorts of things are just another safety feature for parents to safely bring up their children.
Bisjac is 100% correct. There is no difference here between a minor being refused to purchase a researchographic film from a video shop, or a research-mag from a newsagents, or alcohol or tobacco from shops.

It's not a censor since it's not enforced at all. You have full access to use it or not. It is up to the billpayer to decide if they're going to let their ISP filter research or not. It is not up to the government.

Maybe once you've grown up a bit, you can feel comfortable asking your parents to contact your ISP.
Or when you move out you can watch all the research you want.
For the meantime, just shut up and calm down. Especially if it doesn't even affect you. You're just raging over something for the sake of it. Just because it's seemingly popular to hate everything governments do and believe ever elected government member is out to get you.

I'm not jumping on the bandwagon or am some sort of research whore.

Once they have the ability to filter research it's a lot easier to filter anything they want to. It's a lot easier to pass censorship laws if you say "Think of the children!!" first.

That's what worries people. Anyway the people who voted Harper in power aren't agreeing with this. Some MP guy from another province said Canada should follow in UK's steps. Harper is deciding whether to do it or not.

Yes, but why stop kids from seeing it anyway? It's not like they'll turn into a loveual maniac who will rape everyone.
Whoa, alright, here's hoping that you're never a parent.

Whoa, alright, here's hoping that you're never a parent.
Obviously I will not let them watch it if they are really young. Around the age of 13-18 they are fine.
You should teach me how to be a good parent.

Anyway try to control a teenagers hormonal changes and you're in for the biggest mess ever.

been working reasonably well so far

Yes I've noticed the improvements too.

It's not really surprising considering Canada's ties with the United Kingdom.

-snip-
Turn on safe search on your kids computer

Explain them what love is early on before they discover it themselves

Surf the internet with them

What are you talking about?

Despite designating the Head of Commonwealth (Elizabeth II) as the head-of-state, Canada makes its own laws just like Australia and New Zealand do. Canada is practically its own independent country and has been since 1982 when it was declared fully independent by QEII.

Seriously, forget Harper's Conservatives.

this is the censor they want to use in the UK. notice all of the things that are NOT research despite the entire reason behind this being "save the children!!!"

if you think they're actually trying to protect children you're a loving idiot. "oh but you can just untick the filters" do you know how many people mindlessly just click "next" when installing things? same deal here. all of this stuff is blocked by default. this is not protecting children, this is censorship.

this bitch is not getting my vote.

If someone wants to censor something out, it should be by choice, for example, parents should just install a site blocker. It's not rocket science and censorship on something not that bad is just overkill.

yeah, i don't get what the forget people are thinking, I let my child watch snuff films and people killing theirselves everyday!

but really games? lol canada
