Author Topic: What've you made, in Starmade  (Read 5308 times)

Oh, well that makes sense, I suppose I could go with tha-
...Yes. Good advice on how to cover them up without looking like trash, OR not flat out insulting it as an introduction to your "constructive" criticism. And again. While you're giving some actual advice in this post.. You're still flat out insulting the ship and saying it's a piece of stuff. I can take advice and constructive criticism. I can't take people being starfishs just because they don't like something. Insults and blatant verbal attacks on something are NOT constructive. It just makes people feel bad about what they've made and make them want to quite more.
You should constantly feel bad about what you build in Starmade, it's what pushes you to do better next time. I built an excellent ship last time I played, went on a multiplayer server and saw better ones. Instantly wanted to redesign and build bigger, stronger, and more efficiently.

And sorry for seeming to insult you personally, but with all honesty, the ship you built is not capable of fighting.

No, that's seeing that there is always something bigger, badder, stronger than what you've just made and striving to build and create something to overtake that, and get to the next challenge. Not some ass hat coming up to your ship, poking it with a stick and going "HERHERHER, YOUR stuff SUCKS".

Motivation isn't constantly feeling about about what you just worked your ass off on for the last few hours, it's striving to be BETTER. So yeah, when some ass hat came up to me and went "HERHERHER, YOUR stuff SUCKS", I took offense because I put time and effort into that ship, especially because I didn't loving code any of the parts. I had to fly from shop to shop for quite a while to accumulate the hull required.

And despite what you may think, you'd be surprised. It's not the strongest of ships, but the majority of it is covered entirely in hardened hull and it has quite the supply of shields on top of that. Plus, with it's mass of weapons/engines, it can stand to lose a few in the heat of a battle should it's shields actually manage to go down.

Also, as to that example.. No one looked at your ship and called it trash. You saw better ships and wanted to build something to match that. How is that being made to feel bad about the fruits of your labors and effort?

Until you figure out the mechanics of this game, I don't see the point in arguing this further. Please for the love of god, try to learn something from my "insults" and the other criticism people have given you, and build a better ship.

That's all I should have said, forgive me for ever posting here.

Oasis, honestly, I do appreciate the criticism and tips on how to improve my creations, however slight and pointless they are. What I do not, however, appreciate is you just calling my ships useless and unable to fight, and saying literally TWO WORDS of advice, and then saying that it's helpful, constructive criticism. THAT is my one and only problem. I am not perfect at this game, I don't expect to know very much at all. That doesn't mean I'm going to stand here, be insulted, and told to take it happily.

jesus christ dequire calm your tits lol your ship really isnt that great, no need to make a huge deal out of it

...You.. really didn't read my previous post much, did you?

If you've got plenty of shields, you shouldn't have to use hull that much. I try to use hull in key areas like covering my shields/weapons. It will make your ship a lot smaller and more nimble.

Same here, but I had a general design scheme in mind when building this thing. A large caged in power/weapons, surrounded on either side by two barge like pylons. It ended up turning into that.

And to be fair, this thing went up against 3 Isanths and 2 warships that I had designed myself, which had considerable firepower, and missiles, as well as a number of turrets. They ALMOST got the shields to a quarter before being wiped out. And I'm pretty sure that's a little before I bolstered the shields further, but I can't be positive.

I thought it looked pretty neat.. :I

Then again, I've never played this game so I'm probably not seeing what you all are.
