Do you think that it'd ever top WoW's user base?

There's always a chance of that happening but i doubt it. WoW had great marketing and advertised the popularity, which also dragged in people who wanted a social experience more than a gaming experience.

I have never seen a commercial or ad for a game by SOE, other than at E3 or stuff like that.

Blizzard has excellent marketing schemes, especially advertising every new WoW version which comes out yearly. I've never seen any EQ advertisements before online or on TV like with WoW. EQ has always had more mature players though.

I've played WoW for 5 minutes 2 years ago and hated it, people were so crude while people on EQ were so eager and willing to help you and be friends with you.

yeah really, ive subbed to WoW on multiple short occasions and rarely met an starfish. only one real starfish sticks in the back of my head though

loving roostersucker dps on dungeon finder kept aggroing every mob in our dungeon and we called him out on it, and then he needed these pants the tank needed, won them, called us starfishs, and bailed.

They aren't the nicest to newer users, I also found the game to be really time-consuming which is why I did not play again. I found WoW players to be really xenophobic.
