Author Topic: Voice Chat Mod  (Read 4241 times)

Okay, so what I was thinking was a mod that makes it so when you say a common word like "Hi!" or "Go!' it would play sound from the player, a voice that says that. No text to speech voices. :/

Inspired from a Gmod mod. Video below. -Could not find one.

what would be even cooler was if more context-sensitive voice commands had extra animations to help convey information

like if there were a "go that way" command, you would spawn a little arrow pointing in the direction you want people to go, and if you're looking somewhere nearby the actual voice quip would change from "go that way" to "stay here"

or possibly you could simplify it even more and just have a "do something" command, and then have it do different things depending on what you're looking at

I think this could actually be purely server sided, assuming you can command the client to hear a sound.

like portal 2? interesting

I already did this once but the code was a massive failure

I can redo it with emotes and arrows and stuff if you want

what is this

I'm actually working on something like this but not quite.
Using BF3 voices, I'm hotwiring some zombie bots to grab onto players. The player gets stuck and yells, "Get me out of here!" or something, and if a teammate doesn't shoot the zombie within like 4 seconds, the player dies. If they player is saved, they say something too, like, "Damn, you forgeted him up!"

this already exists and I have it, I posted a video using it awhile ago
It's a problem on popular servers because the chat flows faster than it can read it, and it is always late.
