A majority of NATO either refuses to spend %2 to maintain an army, or they simply don't see the need for large standing army. So the alliance has become "call the Americans panick button" where you get people like "forget those stupid fat Americans, they bomb innocent civilians!" which quickly turns into "America! Some jihads beheaded my fellow country men! DO YOUR GODDAMN JOB!" and then "Why did you bomb all those poor people! forget you America!" and then "AMERICA! RUSKIES ARE INVADING! HELP! I'm sure you saw one in demonstration, shooting down an aircraft/UAV. If you try to tell me that we have lasers that can shoot down warheads from a balistic missile I am going to shoot you in the foot.

What we don't have in full production yet is electrical lasers that can do the same thing. Firing chemical lasers like the MIRACL costs tens of thousands of dollars per use.

it is north korea we're talking about. it certainly is within their boundaries if it meant taking out south korea, afflicting minor damage on japan and taiwan, and wiping out an invasion force sent by the US.
