like i have a 105megabit package
thats 13.125 megabytes per second
there is no way comcast could claim to be giving a person 13mb speeds. because then idiots would be calling them day and night thinking they should be able to download an mp3 at 13mb per second.
thats not how internet works.
13mb is for my entire household to share at once, and whatever websites i go to that feel like letting me connect with whatever speed they allow, i just cant go over 13mb total.
Now that I think about it, I don't think my DL speed is 30, I've gone about 4Mb/s plenty of times. Any way to check your theoretical speeds?
most isps kinda of raise the cap they claimed to have given you because they just have the internet to give out in that area. in off times on off days, comcast will let me go over like 50% of what im paying for. but then 6pm on a friday night, im capped at my 105 again.
its kinda of a use it or waste it kind of thing. comcast has nothing to gain by enabling a certain bandwidth per neighborhood and then it never being 80% used.
this is mostly cable and fiber. phone line internet likely woudlnt do this.
