technically it's a "global issues" class so i guess it's more about this kind of thing specifically. if this were an english class i could understand if it were to teach argumentation to start off with but ech

Absolutely no topic any student writes about in a high school English class is important. The entire point of assignments is to develop the technique for when you enter college and actually have important stuff to say.

Anywhore I got my mark back. I got 70%
I got full marks for introduction and main points, 75% on conclusion, but got a 25% on my citation page and a 50% on my mechanics and style.
