Author Topic: Different method for entering vehicles  (Read 1514 times)

It seems to me that the current method of having to jump on top of a vehicle is not very efficient and would be better if a Gui message would appear when you are within a set distance of the vehicle.  Then you would press a key binded key to enter/exit the vehicle, maybe caps lock?

That would painfully suck.

And why would that painfully suck?

In a fast-paced deathmatch you don't want OK dialogs for whether to steal an enemy Jeep or not.

Maybe this isn't clear, all this would be is a small message somewhere on the screen saying "press caps lock to enter vehicle"  this would actually be much faster than having to jump on the vehicle at the right velocity. this message would not freeze game play one bit.

Walking past vehicles would painfully suck as well. Press Caps lock to enter, Press Caps lock to enter, Press Caps lock to enter etc. Current system is fine, I'm sure Badspot will fix it in V9.

First off, you rhymed :P.
Second, WTF? "It's fine, but Badspot will fix it" ? Fix what? You said it was fine...

Vehicle damage, in v8, had a large change to how it was detected - the sensitivity was left too high, jumping on vehicles to enter them in a minigame can hurt you sometimes.

I see what you mean, but I think a small Message (possibly in the corner of the screen) would not be too annoying. Think of halo's system of vehicle entering.

Just have a symbol that looks like a jeep in the CI style that pops up in the corner, that way you know you can enter a vehicle and you don't have to waste time by instinctively reading the text.

haha. amazing. XD

reading words takes 500mili synapses in the brain, while recognizing images takes only 180mili. haha

its like saving brain bandwidth. hahaha... are you by any chance a computer programmer or networking consultant? hehehehe

anyway, this might be a good idea.
the only thing wrong with the current system though, is that you get injured upon entry, and even if you touch a static vehicle. i like vehicle damage, but i think it should be modified so that it only hurts you if the vehicle is moving.

damage could also be proportionate to its speed, so that a zooming fast speeding car would kill you on impact, but if someone is just lazing by in a jeep, and they graze you, then you just get slightly hurt.

it used to be like this in 0002. It sucked. The new system is much better.

It's supposed to damage you based on both of your speeds (fast person + fast jeep is more damage than slow person + fast jeep) but the scale it uses is way too high, damaging you if one of you is moving at all. (Which you have to, to get to the jeep)
