Author Topic: Custom mod commissions  (Read 9932 times)

I do agree that my mod is related to other CityRPGs, but it is not the exact. The entire code is completely different, but also there are new features and fixed features. Are there any topics for my CityRPG to add suggestions that would make it more different?
One important thing is, I don't think you should look at other City RPG's to see suggestions on what to add. (A lot of people do this) The only helpful tip I can give you is to try and be original and don't take suggestions from other City RPG's. If you truly want to be unique, try to think outside the box when it comes to your City RPG. Don't already do what other people have done, try to go beyond that. I'm sure in your topic people will eventually post some really good ideas.

Thank you Nobot. I'll see what I can do.

This is why you should know what you're talking about before you talk about it.

Well truth be told I couldn't tell the difference, it may be written from scratch but it's still mirroring Iban's down to the bone, even nailing down the modern gimmicky features like 'building licenses' and older broken features like 'bounty hunters'. When I said built from scratch I meant re-designed, not re-coded.

If you read the cityrpg topic it explains that it is made from scratch and there's even a post full of features; even if you didn't read the topic please don't jump to conclusions thinking every server is using the same mod.

I'm starting to become conscious that this conversation is taking attention away from Pecon's commission system. The post full of features is essentially a comprehensive list of every feature I've seen in a number of different Iban edits that were semi to moderately successful. Yes your specific re-coded version of Iban's original idea is probably going to be the most efficient and well-structured version. But Iban's idea sucked, no matter how it's coded or tweaked. CityRPG has no direction, no goal and no real gameplay.

This is just becoming more hostile and personal than it needs to be so I'll quit de-railing this thread and open up a topic concerning CityRPG at a later date. I still think crowdfunding larger projects is a good idea.

You can explain things in my topic, I'll be free to listen to suggestions.

It's not a good idea on commissioning a very large project as someone explained the issues earlier. Good luck if it works well though.

Although in general I don't think Pecon wants to make a CityRPG mos.

I apologize I was discussing about my CityRPG here, this should be on my topic not Pecon's.

I disagree that CityRPG has no direction, goal, or real gameplay. It all depends on who is coding it, which direction they take the mod, and how it's essentially hosted.
While Iban wasn't known for being the best person for the job, I think his newest project for CityRPG would have been a big hit if he hadn't let his emotions take the better of him and decide to leave the community and project all-together after he got banned.

Anyyyyways...

I think a crowd-funded cityrpg-style gamemode (but not really city rpg, like called something different with certain elements of city rpg) would be a very good idea.
I can't really see anybody else pulling something like this off aside from some of the big-names within the community such as Pecon.

Heck, if Pecon actually decided to do something like this I guarantee I would put money into it.

At this point it's been well established that a new city rpg mod production cost cannot be accurately estimated without every single element laid out in detail, and would definitely be > $100.  Even then, it's not a simple commission that can be given an accurate price tag.  Basically it's not a practical commission and it won't be happening.

Discussions on what a city rpg mod should strive to be, etc, should be taken to another topic.

Man, I wish I can mail you money in an envelope
I would do it too..I don't have a way of getting money into a paypal

I'd even say it would cost closer to $1000. Jasa worked on his CityRPG mod on a regular basis and it still took years to get it in working order.

How much would this cost? http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=284270.0
My automatic winner mod Plornt made me for my Falling Tiles uses basically this exact concept to detect a winner. I can send you it if you'd like.

Ah ok, sure send it my way.

As for the invoice that was sent to me, it says it is past due.  I will pay it as long as you have the mods and will deliver.  Can you post confirming of denying that you have them?

The initial version of the event exporter is complete, as I demoed before. However, I am requiring payment before your requests go into the commission queue (The current stuff will probably take until the end of the week).

Alright.  If you PM me telling me when everything is for sure complete, I will pay.  Is that alright?

I met my goal for the month, updated OP on that information.
