There's a point to be made about allowing governments to independently squash these kinds of genocides/insurgencies, but at a certain point we're kind of obligated to help. The reason that the UN even exists with the capability to intervene in conflicts is because a ton of countries agreed that avoiding genocides like the Holocaust is more important than preserving complete state sovereignty.

I agree with the approach that we have right now. We can provide air support and armaments without going in and ousting the current government with our military.
