Author Topic: [HELP] Unturned - How to make a dedicated server without steam?  (Read 1399 times)

I have a once-in-a-lifetime friend who lets me use his VM hosting machine for free to host games on, usually just Minecraft, however lately I have been wanting to host an Unturned server on it.

Thing is, his steam account is connected to the VM, and he doesn't want any Unturned installations to affect his Steam account or be linked through steam.

So, my issue is, how can I create an Unturned server on the VM without using Steam in any way?

idk if it works anymore, but me and my friend used to do this by deleting the steam dll in the the unturned folder and then starting unterned with a batch file

this was a while ago (2015?) so i dont remember the exact steps, but we used a tutorial we found online to do it

yeah actually. might not be doable anymore tho since its from 2014 and im p sure dedicated servers weren't even a supported feature back then

have you tried not using his account for the server account?
like disconnect his account from the vm

Well see he's only letting me use the server because one of my friends asked him if I could use it. He would never agree to that, and he'd definitely revoke my server access if I did it without asking.
