Author Topic: Role Playing Names  (Read 900 times)

Lately I've been on a couple RPG servers on GMod and boy, is it polished over there. It has been brought to my attention that RPGs in Blockland don't know the difference between Role-Playing and buying guns and killing each other. I'm talking about a 100% serious RPG Fine, maybe 99.99% serious :cookieMonster:

My idea is this: When you join the server, a GUI, or a command or whatever pops up and asks for your RP name. You enter  a realistic-ish name which appears above your head like your regular name would go (Which would appear in smaller letters under your RP name). When you talk, instead of having the format:
clan tagToadzardclan tag:
It would be
Bob Smith(RP name): Without clan tags.

And what would that change?

it would still be about guns and killing each other

Ya i've noticed this too.

There's no real RPing.... at all.

And what would that change?

it would still be about guns and killing each other

All i know is that people On Blockland Do not RP well. All the People On Blockland abuses admin and when you like jump in a car before you take off you should say
Breaks Window then say Starts Engine Then Take off. And With the people With admin if you steal a car all they do is just respawn it they don't actually try to kill you and take it back. And other stuff Blocklanders do that isn't RPing. When you Play GTA multilayer, or on Gmod They Rp very Well.

And what would that change?

It would still be about guns and killing each other.
The only real way to fix this is to find the source. They need to not be hosted by 10 year-olds thinking that all they need is the cash mod, and a gun shop to have an RPG. As I'm sure you've experienced, they can be horrendously lame and uninteresting. If someone is like me, they check on RPG servers to see whose hosting, what theme and then they judge what they can expect. An ideal RPG consists of a good admin with experience, descent builds and a dash of talent. I do realize that games like GTA and GMod have older and more mature players, but I think that the same feeling can be brought to Blockland, just a little more effort is needed.

If the person is serious enough, they'll stay on the server. If the person isn't as inclined to do a little pretending, and they don't see "Wer can i get sum gunz" in the chat box, then they leave, and I won't have to deal with them. The RP names would really spruce up Role Playing, as the more serious would see that there's no Bullstuff going on (That is, if there are people who are interested in RPing.).

People RP in GTA multiplayer?

They have websites that they meet then they join each others servers.

If you've ever been to one, are they any good?
