An add-on isnt first of its kind even if its the person's first
Example: the NES wasn't "first of its kind" because it wasn't the first console, but it was Nintendo's first.
Pong would be "first of its kind" for video games(I believe, might be wrong), but say Nintendo's first game(donkey kong?) was their first, Â but not first of its kind.(unless it was a new genre or something)
Also it depends on how it is low quality. If it breaks the game, or adversely affects other add-ons/parts of the game in serious ways then there is no excuse. A not-so-good model or not having little things like CI or itemicon isn't so bad, even though you still should make them(or use a preexisting one).
Developers are still adjusting to having motion sensing available for their use, some will use it wisely, many won't. Add-ons utilize scripting & modeling that have been around for a while, it's much easier to do your research and get things right than it would be with motion sensing, where a lot of experimenting needs to take place to get the motions user-friendly and such(many companies cut corners).
