Look at my model
So, you made your first decent model, and your so super-proud of it, and by all means you should be, and people always say, "Don't post your first..." its not because it usually ends up just being among the thousands of "My first..." topics, which nobody really likes. Although nobody likes these topics, they could at least respect them, wait, what, respect them? Yes, that's the real reason they say don't post your first whatever, when you post your first, whatever, it always ends up getting flamed, usually so much, it never leaves the first page of the section you post it in. When I posted my first couple of good models, I got at least
17, yes, 17 pages of solid flaming! Now you don't want that do you? So when your going to post a picture of one of your best fancy-schmancy models, I recommend really thinking over everything, or maybe, sending a picture of it to someone in the community via the messaging system on the forums!
So, if you still want to post your first model, If your smarter then me, you've probably been modeling for at least a couple of months! If you haven't,
fire handicapant suits are allways an option!
That stinks
OTOH! Your going to go for it, your first piece of flame, you must be thinking, "You call that a carrot? Yeah right, that's just my missile model, you dumb...." well, maybe not that, but something along the lines of it! So before you do this, carefully consider the fact that the person
might be new to modeling, but if its someone like,
Heedicalking, or
GreenBH, one of the well known (But not nearly as well respected, with all due respect to the users), then, you won't be doing any harm. Heck, their some of the most well known modelers in all of the
Blockland forums! Now from here on out, its
pie in the sky, right? Well, actually, no, you can get flamed, for flaming, and that's one of the most common things! Now that's no fun, right? Nobody likes flame! Wait, breakthrough,
nobody likes flame! Even well respected community members! So, if your going to flame, do it in a nice way, more like, criticism. Don't use words like,
suck, crap, worst, terrible, die, fail, epicfail,
, because that just makes you look like a jerk! So, as I said before,
Keep It Light!
Redemption
Oops, you slipped, now
all of the community hates you! Well, what can you do? You've tried everything! You've tried
nice, mean, sarcastic, vengeful, why doesn't anything work? Well, because the community now knows, your a fun little toy to play with! They just see you as a person to annoy, at this point, they may not even remember why they hate you, they just do! Not fair! I know, its not fair, but its easy to fix! Just be calm, cool, and collected, don't post flame, or lash out at other users, let your current topics die down a bit, basically, travel under the radar for awhile. Don't worry, it should only take a week before your slate is wiped clean, or close to it. The basic rule of thumb for regaining your status, is just
don't let "noobs" get on your nerves!
Check my pack
So, you've scripted, modeled, drawn, and maybe even recorded some sounds bytes, now that your pack is done, your ready to release it! Its perfect and wonderful, and it almost seems worth it that you endured that 30 solid pages of flame. Wait, WHAT? Many users have made this mistake, including myself,
you post your idea for a pack in some category, and you get flamed and criticised for every little tiny detail, and even after you fix it, you still get flamed! Flamed, copied, banned from servers? You offer something, and the community hates you for it, and then asks for more? It doesn't make sense to me! If your going to make a pack of add-ons,
keep it private, until its done! It works out MUCH better!
Check my map
If your going to show off a map before you finish it, if your actually willing to do this, you will probably only get helpful tips! But when you do this, have pictures, a description, and all the good things any other complete add-on would have! The nice thing about maps is, its very hard to criticise! Would it make sense if you said "Its not flatshaded there!" no! So posting incomplete maps, unlike add-ons, has a
fire damage probability rating of maybe, a 10% chance!
Check my Add-on in Progress
This is reputation Self Delete! If you do this, its like dousing C4 in gasoline, and handing a pyromaniac a match! Doing this, there is no way, you won't be flamed,
no way at all! like posting incomplete add-on packs, this is a bad thing to do! And thats all there is to it, just don't do it!
