You cannot put the camera somewhere else.

The rearview mirror only looks backwards for a reason. You can't make it look down like a radar, the engine doesn't let it.

You should be able to make it look down, you just can't change the viewpoint from the player's head. So your "radar" would only show what you can see normally when you look down. It will also rotate with your head so when you look down normally your radar will show what is behind you.

Guys.

Somebody made a top down player.
And somebody made a rear view mirror with a client sided mirror.

This should be possible if you can make a camera above you that is shown in a client sided GUI.

No. Read.

It wasn't this much trouble to extinguish the "build-able vehicles" concept, which is exponentially cooler than this idea, yet this one holds on better. If you don't know what you're talking about, don't make suggestions as to how it could "work".

ITT: Torque's stuffness does not allow us common enhancements most games have.

That's a rash statement. I don't want to speak too much here but it's more because of the changes that have been made (blocks) and because it would require simple engine changes (that Badspot would have to do).

A radar is not an "enhancement." It's a feature, but enhancement is subjective. From a gameplay-based perspective, I mean. If we're speaking FPS, most of these "solutions" to the problem involve rendering everything twice.

We should focus on the problem instead of trying to make a broader statement out of it because, naturally (this is heedicalking), people will disagree. We can all agree that this won't happen and then we can go back to doing other, more productive things.

Sorry for guessing, geez.
Not everybody is a genius in scripting.

It's one thing to guess and another to guess after the concept has been shot down as impossible in all respects.

My loving god I'm tired of explaining the same stuff over and over.
People come up with the same ideas from page 1-2, again and again and again.

I believe this is due to a lack of reading all previous posts.
