Author Topic: what will v15 hold?  (Read 20924 times)

emitter fix obviously!

How about...
Lights don't go through rendered bricks, maybe?

I'm really more or less expecting v15 to either be a hotfix or a bug fix patch due in maybe a few weeks.

It's usually like this: big update, small update, big update, small update, big update, small update and so on.

DirectX compatible I hope.
That would need a lot of changes I believe, because all of Torque's rendering is based on OpenGL, plus it wouldn't be a good marketing decision because DirectX isn't cross-platform. He would have to abandon Mac-users and thus people who only own Macs wouldn't buy the game, that means less income.

I might be wrong though, there are all sorts of wrappers and stuff like that.

Or possibly make some more add-ons default, like Ephi's shotgun.

I personally hope that one day Badspot enables vehicles made out of bricks on Blockland; so far, all the bricks are stationary unless you blow them up or fakeKill them.

That would require a COMPLETE engine change.
But I hope so too.

Somewhat buildable vehicles are already possible. There's two different ways to do it.

You will just need to make a seperate model for every different part you want on the vehicle and understand that when the server gets laggy we will suffer from the "my hat is floating 3 feet behind my head" bug that was a problem in the old Blockland.

It'd be better just to make every possible part on the vehicle hideable like on the minifig.

Either way we don't exactly get a buildable vehicle, we get a customizable vehicle, a bit like lego racers. You won't be able to put a house on top of your car and read the newspaper in your living room while someone drives you downtown, but you'd be able to put different decals, windows, doors, engines and accessories on your vehicle so they'd all look different. Kind of like Lego Racer, except a bit more limited. Maybe Zero Gear would be a better comparison. You could choose from a variety of door and engine designs but you probably couldn't shift one particular door design the left or right one stud.

I don't think there's a good way to let you put your house on wheels without redesigning the way bricks and physics work from scratch.

Like I said, engine change.

For that, everyone would need a super computer.

For that, everyone would need a super computer.
There are a ton of games that do that already.

ololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol.

ololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol.
olololololo u so fonnyyyy

Do you really have to post that everytime something that is NOT funny is said?

How's that?
Badspot's shot that idea down, for that reason, before. I forget the exact reason, but search may provide answers.
