Author Topic: Why use new paint sets?  (Read 2844 times)

Builds wont be forgeted up if you just add colors to the default.
That's what I said!

Another thing I don't get about these other colorsets. Why do you need any more than 4 greys and browns? Honestly I think 4 greys and 3 browns is good enough.

i wish badspot would just make a new default 64-paint that includes the old default colors.
i dont like using mods as is. but having at least 3 basic and 1 trans for the general colors would be fine.

How about just a color wheel, and a transparency adjust bar so we can use all the colors in the universe.

Too complex.

You can do that with your avatar. You can add colors to the colorset and set them in your avatar.

As in, it would be too hard to get the exact same colors twice.

Datablocks.
I can't remember exactly what it is, but it's something like having a Datablock for every different colour, plus it's datablock for the spray can.
Simply put, lots of colours (Such as in a Colourwheel) is a lot of datablocks, which is bad as far as I know. :)

It's nice being a complete idiot when it comes to knowing your favourite games. :D

Maybe two new special cans "Copy" and "Paste"?

I was thinking more along the lines of a sort of "Eyedropper" like in most paint programs.

The game automatically changes the colours to match the new set.

I like to use BobandRob's {I think} /pickColor mod.
It's really handy when you've got large colour sets, or want an allready used colour fast or if it's too dark to make out two different colours.
It's really good at allowing you to pick your variety of colours fast, the main problem though is how it effects the symbols and such on the screen.

Say you have default Red as your colour, the bricks in your brickmenu will be red.
You use the /pickColor command while looking at a green brick. Your Spraycan changes green.
Your brickmenu will still be red though.
If you then press E (Or your spraycan button) it will open up at the Red colour again though, which can defeat the purpose when you're trying to get a couple of close colours quickly, as you can only access one, then you have to scroll manually to get the other.

I guess in short, I could say I'm lazy, and still complain about the tools that help me continue my lazines. But I still like that mod for getting colours.

Yeah, but if you do something stupid like choose a colourset that has absolutely no Red shades and then load up most builds, you'll have random odd colours in place of the reds.

Although, it's rather silly to go loading colourful saves if you have a colourset without many colours.

Which makes Afghanistan look like Candyland

Would that require you to physically get close to the colour though?
Or be able to do it from a distance, since /pickColor works at any distance, so long as your aim is on the colour.
I guess implementing an Eyedropper tool alongside the Spraycan that worked at a distance would be good though.
Essentially, /pickColor is like the Eyedropper tool, just without a model, really. That's if you were to have a model for the Eyedropper.
