Currently I've got a completed FireRed and Ruby game, also redoing Colosseum, working towards being able to trade between them all so if I figure out what kind of team I want I could try to breed for movesets/stats/whatever. I'm thinking of having one for double-battles since they're more interesting.

I've downloaded that 'Netbattle' simulator, is there a way to test a created team against a CPU or randomly generated opponent just to test strategies rather than another person who's going to obliterate me instantly with theirs?

Nope, multiplayer only. Also, Shoddy Battle is better.
