I beat the first gym a few hours ago. It's really simple if you have an Onix.

You know what I didn't know about until today: Both versions have different Pokemon in them. The only pokemon games I played is Gale of Darkness, Emerald, and Yellow. In Emerald and Yellow you get them both, so I didn't know.

Just got back from getting SS. I also just beat the first Gym! :D I'm not getting the traded onyx, because in original Silver he sucked. I had to use screech a bunch for him to do a little damage.
By the way, I'm trading my Jirachi to it when I beat Bugsy.

He's actually useful once you get him to level 9/10. He learns rock throw at one of those levels. It only took me about half an hour just to get him there.
