Doesn't it have a certain motion like walking, and not just shaking?

If you shake it rhythmically so you do one complete shake cycle (that's one shake up then back down) every second, it works, at least the way I'm doing it

I just followed a very good guide I found online and used a swarm of Dusk Balls with a Quick Ball at the start and a mix of a few Timer Balls I imported from Pearl. And when it failed after about 20 balls, I just chucked my Master Ball at it. Well, wait to waste those Pokeballs. :/

Way to waste your Master Ball.

Exhaust all Pokeballs first, and if that fails, turn off -> try again, assuming you saved first like a sensible Pokemon trainer.

And you don't need a guide to catch anything, it's always the same (1 and 2 are interchangeable):

1. Weaken
2. Give status ailment
3. Throw balls best suited for capture or best ball available

What's the best thing to use a Master Ball on anyway? I never end up using mine. I'd say a shiny since you can't just turn off your game and try again when you fail to catch it like every other Pokemon.
