It's also dual boots Ubuntu. Any infection to windows wouldn't effect it and I'm pretty confident I could clean out windows through it.

UAC in vista is a bitch. Want to open a folder? Say hello to this permission thing, then you have to enter a password, then confirm the password, all in different GUI's. And THATS just for OPENING a folder.

This happened to me, I was browsing through some stuff in Google and a fake anti-virus check came on, how I first new it was fake because I had vista and it brang up a windows98.gif, I immediately pressed the shut down button, and that was about a few month's ago, and nut-tin' has changed.

I've never had that happen, but I have had the "You need permission to delete this file" thing happen, even when I'm running on the Administrator account.

"Your computer is infected with malware and viruses! It is recommended that we clean your computer!"
>> Select No or press X
"Goto "My computer" and it is doing a fake scan

I hate those popups.

You sir, are a forgettard.
When you dual boot ubuntu and windows, Ubuntu treats the windows stuff as as subordinate to IT.
ie; the only situation that a virus can forget over both OSes is if Ubuntu managed to get infected first, which is pretty much impossible since it's linux based.

yeah and you can't infect a linux partition from inside windows because windows doesn't know wtf an ext3 formatted partition is

Sorry, I don't understand completely how Windows regards dual boot operating systems.

My sister recieved those scanners 21 times on the laptop. I just system restore and Avast! removes them.

Well yeah, i was browsing through armorgames when the antivirus virus popped up, i got the internet closed, and i cancelled the install prompt, but for some reason i dont feel im safe...

I scanned with spyhunter, it didnt pick anything up, so im guessing im safe...

Am i?
Is something like:
"Message from webpage: You are infected we are scanning your pc"

The viruses will eat your soul :o
