Author Topic: Deciding between computers to buy. I need help.  (Read 2493 times)

I actually had the keyboard, it is made of some heavy metal to make it look fancy, the keys press weird, and the keys are made from some kind of weird stuff that rubs off and stains real easy, also get 1 drop of soda on it and it is fried. I also tried a G18 keyboard once, in the end I always go back to the $8 dynex keyboards. I still don't see where you base your idea that I have no clue what I am talking about. And also the computer you recommended him couldn't even use up 500w of a PSU. I dunno what your problem is but you just seem bitchy and whiny about not being 100% perfect, so you are lashing out at me saying I have no idea what I am talking about, which is easy to say to someone.

How many keyboards have you gone through that you have to keep buying $8 dynex ones?  The keys on my keyboard press like, uh, keys I guess.  I don't chow down on greasy food near my PC, so my keys aren't staining.  The keyboard itself is plastic, just not the cheap plastic you're used to.  And so what if his computer doesn't need anything more than 500W, people sometimes do this thing called upgrading.  With a PSU that isn't a piece of stuff, he won't have to worry about spending extra cash when he wants to overhall his system.

It is easy to tell someone they have no clue what they're talking about, especially when it's true.

Bullstuff, my 4650 beats my friends 9800GT in a certain game while he's got the better CPU and he's got XP, better for performance than my Vista.
So no way a 4850 is beating a 8600.

This is actually the budget comp featured in MaximumPC this month, so it is gonna run smooth they aren't handicapped, and I still like how you think I know nothing because of a power supply, get over it man. I kept your mouse, keyboard, and monitor to shut you up. This comp will run EXACTLY the same as the one you built, only difference is it costs $860  :cookieMonster:. Since it is featured in the magazine I can also post it's benchmarks.

It will run Crysis at 20 FPS. Which I think is all I need to say.

Also most of the parts you picked I found funny where almost all the first links on the pages  :cookieMonster: You really did just pick the first things you saw.

Also I never meant a 4650 was actually worse than an 8600, I just jumped at the moment to tell him not to skimp on the GPU, and made an exaggerated comparison.

Depending on resolution.

Depending on resolution.
True, the maximum res for 5770 is like 2560x1260 or some odd resolution like that, I am guessing the 20 FPS is at a normal res like 1024x768. But it still means it would run HL2 at max settings. Also my $860 dollar build includes the $105 windows 7 that zaran didn't even put into his build, so his build is looking at almost 1.2k with that.

The computer I picked for him will run Crysis higher than 20 fps at 1920x1080 for $180 more, $285 more if you include Windows 7.

No it won't, you have the same exact thing as me except a larger PSU and more expensive other random things. I have the same ram just a better company of ram, the same CPU, the same GPU. A bigger power supply is not gonna give you more FPS.

The monitor is widescreen, so if you were wanting to run crysis, you'd want it to look proportional. 1366x768 is it's biggest res.

WTF, his build has NOOO extra power anywhere, can you guys point out where on his build there is more power? also widescreen you would prob go 1440x900 res. That is what my current widescreen uses.

Those are the specs of my less powerful computer.  It runs Crysis flawlessly maxed at 1440x900(19 inch monitor), and very well at 1920x1080(monitor in the specs). The computer I chose has virtually the same specs.

And the comp you chose has the same speccs as my $300 cheaper comp. I still want you to tell me where your comp boosts out more power than mine?

He doesn't need enough power for crysis as he's stated, so as I said before, we could swap it for a 4850.

Or we could get the same specs for $300 less... but where would we get that...
