He is just trying to fit in, why don't you try to not be handicapped and understand he is just not very good at socializing and try to be a little more tolerant. I have many people that think I am their best friend because I understand when people are just trying to fit in and I don't hold it against them. I get along with just about anyone in RL, which is funny considering on the internet I hate everyone  

But I can hardly talk to my own friends without him getting in the way and telling me some joke made in 1940.

Until recently I had unusually long hair for a guy. This one guy on my bus kept making fun of the way I sometimes sleep with my mouth wide open. Then one day his friend is like "Yo, he's a quiet emo kid, he's gonna shoot up the scoo!"

He never said a word to me after that. Bitter sweet 

But more on topic, I'm just like you. I would do that for most people. I'm in a similar situation only the guy doesn't tell jokes that are all that bad and really, I don't mind him that much at all.
