A village needs authority, it uses some of it and even more depending on how many flags you have.
It is very hard to run a village solo get some friends (5 or more) make sure they are active almost everyday or the village will lose it auth. Build walls before you start a village claim.

Theres also really no upside to having a village, its just like a large personal claim that all villagers can track scents

Crossroads is like a hearth but to other villages who give you there crossroads

Im not sure, i think its half the lpp you earn goes twards village auth (you dont lose lp)
