They need a bit more variation in there somewhere, so they're more interesting. They're okay, though.

I think that that gradient looks like it's a bit sudden to switch between blue to black, but that's just me.

I dunno, I was somewhat inspired by those pics of the earth from very high up and you see the blue atmosphere below and the black atmosphere above, yes? :/

Huh.. I can see what you mean, but to the scale of the grass then to the guy then to the cliff, I'd imagine it would be a bit less... Sudden. Not to mention it's not an ellipse. :P
