Personalize window appears as the screenshot posted when you can only use the Vista Basic theme.

Try this in command prompt (as administrator):
"net stop uxsms"
"net start uxsms"

Access denied

Try this in command prompt (as administrator):
"net stop uxsms"
"net start uxsms"

In other words, right click Command Prompt in the start menu, and click "Run as administrator".

If you don't do this as an administrator, you'll just get an "Access is denied" error.

Even if he clicks on "Windows Color and Appearance", it'll just take him to the other screenshot he posted.
Basically, he can't switch to aero, even using the personalization menu, from what I'm understanding.

Edit: It's really odd that not even restarting uxsms fixed it...you shouldn't get an "Access Denied" error if you run it with administrator.

Aero Basic, im running vista home, And ove always been able to use Aero without transparency, but for some reason it just wot work anymore...

If you guys cant find anything to help, is there at least a theme i can download that looks like aero basic???

I don't think you're doing it right.

I did, and it said that the DWM was stopped then restarted again, but it still didnt fix...


Is there a theme i can download to fix this?

Screen cap the window that pops up and post it.
