Author Topic: Confession of Athiesm.  (Read 16797 times)

When an idea gets to the point that people will willing sacrifice themselves to the idea, it has gotten out of hand.

Religion for instance.

You guys can stop the circlejerk now; they have stopped posting.

The thing is, back then they didn't have computers, so they needed something to get addicted to and enjoy, so they created some strange strict religion because simple atheism seemed too boring to them, they chose a less intelligent choice and became very strong believers, even nowadays, with all the systems and entertainment we have, it somehow has driven out this far. I'm surprised myself.

I enjoy reading these threads.

This is not a religion war. I have my beliefs and you have yours. You don't like mine, you say? forget off.

I determined a while ago that I personally did not believe in God. I had a couple reasons to back myself up, however, I can't decide if it's a smart decision to let it be known to my family and those close to me.

I don't know if I should tell people or not. My dad's girlfriend is a Catholic and goes to church every Sunday and teaches CCD; my dad is a non-denominational Christian and really doesn't do anything to show his Christianity. I don't know what people would think of me; atheism is almost a joke at my school.

Should I confess it? Keep it to myself?

I'm going to a new school next year, should I just come right out with it if people ask?
If you fear retaliation for your choice, then don't let it be known. On the other hand, I respect your choice and still think you're a cool guy. :)

I don't know whether this has been posted as I've only read the first and last page.

I AM AGNOSTIC ATHEIST; FLAME ME FOR NOT KNOWING WHAT'S OUT THERE AND NOT BELIEVING IN ANY DEITY, THAT IS ALL.

We don't have to worry about that kind of thing in Canada. :cookieMonster:

Look, no one really knows where the forget this all came from but I'd rather trust the men in the white coats who don't demand I go to church every sunday.

(Quote from some motivator)

I had this problem also. I later faced it and felt better.

I haven't read the entire thread, but here is my advice:

If it ever comes up, tell them you are an Atheist. It's your beliefs, and its your business. Share when you want and keep to yourself when you want, just don't be rude about it. I'd advise telling your family because.....well, they are your family. :o Over all, believe what makes you happy. You cannot dwell in the shadows out of fear you haven't a bright light....or something. Just be happy, and make the best with what life hands you. And, if your rejected by friends and family, and forced into being a social outcast.......Errrrmmm....... .At least you'll have your health.  :cookieMonster:

And you'll always have a friend here. Best wishes. <3
