Fallout Online: 2238 or Fonline:2238 is a free mod/mmo for Fallout 2. It has cities and towns from the first 2 Fallouts.  Like fallout 3 and its past predessors you create your character and choose it's strength, perception, agility, ect. So It's like Fallout, but with multiplayer. The game has crafting, PvE and PvP. If you want to avoid the PvP chaos I suggest hanging out in the southern towns like The Hub and NCR. Money will come in the form of bottle caps and you can trade and sell with other players.

You will need a copy of Fallout 2 to play it.

Isn't FO 2 Abandonware now?

It was mentioned in my OP, but don't worry its very cheap and easy to find. You can get it here at Steam. http://store.steampowered.com/app/38410/

Isn't FO 2 Abandonware now?
Nope. Intereplay still sells it and supports it, but I heard its free at gametap, but thats piracy.

I might buy can you tell more about the combat system?

You have turn based and real time. In turn based it plays like worms, you will have your actions. Each move will cost a certain amount of APs. Once you use your APs up your turn ends. In real time the action is happening all at once, but you still have action points, but they regenterate over a breif period of time. However its hard flee from a fight in Real time Where as in Turn based you can easily flee.

DoublePost. For new players I strongly suggest starting out as a small guns user since they are easy for find and get ammo for.

Russians ruined this game.

Area all the mods still friends?

They are less cigarettegy. They might play a few evil jokes every once and awhile, but it rarely happens. I also heard most of the american players were forming a group to fight the russians.

Just like real life!

It'd be cool to be able to host your own servers. Is any server firmware downloadable?

Also, how does the game deal with players using different combat systems? I think that it could get pretty weird if one player were using turnbased and another were using realtime and in the same area.
