I was thinking how f'ed up that is, too. It's gone from seeming to just be normal costume for people on Pokemon to just stupid editions meant to make it feel unique when all it's doing is f'ing up the character's design.

I don't even like the 3D scenery, to be honest. The few parts they did in SS/HG were nice, but it seems like the whole game is super-3D now, and in a lot of parts you're nearly looking at ground level.

Well, they started looking at the boring ground, so they have to get down to it. But, ya, I'm sure it's not all like that. Probably only partially.
