It's certainly very different.
I do miss some of the maps though.

Gravity cat if your having issues of ships working on brick water / land, go look at Stratofotress's Battleships they do exactly that.

Or you could try to use the enviormental control option for water.
If it's too shallow you could raise the height and stuff. You don't have to use brickwater.

That was the first thing I did. I highly doubt the water depth has anything to do with it and I haven't tried using brickwater yet.
