Goddamn, I just took a dive on my driveway.
So it just snowed and froze last night, and my stupid county didn't feel like canceling school despite the temperatures of negative 10 with windchill.
Remember I said that if school was canceled today, I wouldn't have to take my two hard exams til Tuesday? Well I had to take them after neglecting to study at all for them.
K, so now I'm pretty PO'ed. My only relief would be that it was Friday and that I'd get a three day weekend to look forward to today. So, I walk a quarter mile from the bus stop to my mailbox, -10° with a 30mph wind speed.
I begin the walk down my 300 ft. driveway to my house, when I realize my right foot is on a patch of ice and it is slipping. To avoid killing myself, I decided to move my left foot to a different place to stabilize myself.
Too bad my driveway is covered in black ice.
So now I spin 180° around, drop the mail and catch myself so I don't bash my face in on the ground. Now my hands are frozen and wet from the half melted ice. Not to mention all of my shoveling blisters are torn open by the impact.
But crap! The mail is sitting in a puddle!
When I get up to grab it, the aforementioned wind scatters my mail across the length of the driveway. I spent about 15 extra minutes in the cold trying to pick up every soggy bill, letter, and catalog.
By the time I get to my door, my hands are so frozen I can barely get the key into the lock.
Also, my sister comes in about 10 minutes after me with another letter completely covered in ice that must have flown into the lawn. (She had walked across the lawn and so avoided injury)
So that's my Friday everyone.
Edit: Also, the wind keeps knocking out my power every five minutes. Good thing I'm on my laptop.
