I am somewhat excited yet somewhat annoyed. I don't think games in a strategy game series should be released so close together, it makes me feel abused as a customer that like only a couple years after I get the fourth they come out with an even cooler version. Ah well... I might wait to get this until after the first expansion comes out for it.
I do like the Civilization games and Civ IV is the only game I have that I play close to as much as I play Blockland.

So yeah... talk about Civilization and stuff in this thread.

I wonder if Civilization was turned into a RTS instead of a turn-based game.

No, seems still to be turn based. Looks cool

It will never become an RTS, unless someone mods it.

Looks awesome, I can't wait for it to come out.

Civilization IV was released in 2005 and the most recent expansion, Beyond The Sword was released in 2007. I think 3 years between releases isn't exactly "close together".

I was America while on a huge map, I was at war with loving everyone too. Out of nowhere I get zerg rushed and within 6 turns half my nation is taken over and I am defending the last of my cities with billions of musketeers.

Out of nowhere a bunch of guys just pop out of nowhere and randomly zerg rush me and kill all my soldiers. They are now near unstoppable and my last city is being guarded by some insanely powerful musketeers who survived everything. My city was absolutely surrounded and the enemy started moving in....

Then my game crashed.

Breaking news today: Civ V uses steamworks and there will be a deluxe edition that includes some new maps and some behind the scenes video, among other stuff.

I never pay attention to "behind the scenes" stuff. Literally never.

Ah I got it December 2005 but I guess I just don't see it as that old

You can get all the civ games for 10 bucks on steam atm.

Edit: Nvm it is just all the civ 4 games, still cheap though.

I thought I was the only one looking forward to this, I'm trying to come up with ideas. If you have ideas, now is the time to post them. http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=74

I really do not like how bubbly the country borders seem to look in this new one. :/

Then it would be Rise of Nations.

The emphasis there was meant to be on steamworks. I guess it's not such an issue here because everyone here uses Steam but people are flipping out on the 2k forums.

Anyone up for a Civ 4 BTS match?

If not, we should get a blocklander round going when civ 5 comes out.
