 I turn on music and start to daydream.

this is how much stress i have for the month.

I must read 2 novels
i must gather all the work i did for this semester and mail it.
I must study for a test.
I must clean the kitchen and do the dishes.
I must ace that test.


That's not stress. The would be a vacation for me. :/

i'd like to start running, but whenever i run enough to get tired, or sweat a bit, i get a serious knot in the right side of my ribcage, hurts so bad i can't go any more. also punching soft stuff doesn't relieve stress.
You're doing it wrong. When we started cross country, our coach made us run extremely slow, slower then an old woman walking. The goal is to get a certain amount of time running (we did 50 min per day). After doing that for several weeks, you'll have more endurance, and be able to pick up the pace.

I can't stress how slow we used to run, you cannot run too slow in the beginning, just make sure you're going through the running motions.

Generally I'm able to relieve stress by just thinking about it, and understanding exactly why I'm stressed.

I've been emotionally stressed recently as well. What I try to do is find recreational things to do, like listening to my iDoser, hanging out with people I can get along with, listening to relaxing music, and over all just taking brakes from my regular lifestyle. I also try finding a person to talk to, preferably one that is understanding. This could be anyone for you: a close friend, a therapist, some random hobo on the street, or another person that has the same feelings as you. I prefer close friends over the other options, but the point is to reach the "source" of of your stress and "spit it out."

Smoking does the opposite of putting your body into a relaxed state. The only way it relieves stress is by providing you your drug fix, which you wouldn't need if you weren't addicted to cigarettes to begin with.
