Fudge Layer Cake (Mind you, this is from scratch. None of that box stuff. :o)
Ingredients- 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- 6 tablespoons water
- 11/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2/3 cup milk
Instructions (I'll break it down as simply and contemporary as I can, this recipe is dated back to the 70s, even though most of it is comprehensible. :P) 1. Preheat Oven 370 F
2. Butter and lightly flour two 9-inch cake pans
3. Stir chocolate, water, 1/2 cup of the sugar in a small pan over a low heat (Stove), stirring often and vigorously blending as chocolate melts
4. Cook until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth, then set aside.
5. Cream the shortening and remaining 1 cup of sugar together until smooth and light; add vanilla and beat until well-blended
6. Add eggs, beating each after adding to the mixture.

Sift the flour, baking soda, and salt together. Add each ingredient together alternatively with milk. (Flour, milk, baking soda, milk, salt, milk)
8. Add chocolate to the mixture, beating until well blended.
9. Pour batter into pan (See step 2)
10. Bake for 35 - 45 minutes. After fully baked, sit it to cool for 10 - 15 minutes
-Will make 2 9-inch layers-
Frosting1. Stir together 2 ounces of unsweetened chocolates (in bits), 1
1/2 cups of sugar, 1/2 cup of milk, 4 tablespoons of butter, 1 tablespoon of corn syrup, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt together in a pan.
2. Heat until boiling, cooking for 1 minute while stirring. Afterwords, cool.
3. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla, beat until mixture is thick
-Will make about 2 cups-
Serving Size- Doesn't matter. If you're going to become/stay fat, this is the right way to do it.
