I think it was on the second sublevel, where there's a small tunnel that you slide down and come out on the other side of the corner. I got stuck in the entrance to the tunnel because Waterwraith was blocking it.

Oh god I remember that thing. One time, I was getting a treasure pretty far away from the pod and the he came out of nowhere and I had to seek shelter in a small pipe with my pikmin while Waterwraith was patrolling the halls in front of the exit.

I am going to play the NPC! version now. :D

I've only played the 1st one, but from what I can tell is that there are usually a clusterforget of enemys waiting right around the corner...
