Garry's Mod Just Downloaded.... Something wrong has happened.

It's some sort of Texture error. When an explosion happens the smoke is purpley too. I have no idea how to fix this. Portal is affected too for me. When I drop a weighted cube and some smoke pops out the smoke has the purple texture thing in it.

Nope I only just bought TF2+Garry's Mod package and then got Portal for free.

I only have HL2 Deatmatch and HL2 Loast Cost and the textures work fine for me.

If you have a Nivida or ATI graphics card you can get those two games free.  I am on a bad computer so I can't get the promotion links right now, but you could probaly google it and find it.

What the OP needs to do is verify the game cache.

You need to have Half-Life 2, and have it installed.

You just need any game with SSDK. You don't directly need Half-Life, because Gmod comes with the HL ragdolls/NPCs, weapons & vehicles I believe.

its all the files stored in the .gcf you download, sometimes it doesnt download all of them

right click on the game and click properties and select the local files tab and click verify
