I personally like both. There's more options for the xbox (except they cost money =( gay) and you can get shirts and stuff by playing games.

Xbox Avatars: More realistic, they have hands, you can choose their clothes, you can wear props, more hair styles, more faces, Face detail. 10/10

Mii: Choose the color of shirts, set favorites, not much hair, only 4 types of facial hair, only 4 types of face details. 3/10

(except they cost money =( gay)

Well if you're choosing what avatars you should get i would choose Xbox. I personally prefer the avatars cause it lets you make something that resembles you. (or someone else)
