Author Topic: 256K Bricks????  (Read 3043 times)

Is this for real??? Badspot said that there can now be 256K ghosts, that does mean 256K bricks now, right? Or is that just too good to be true?

It could mean 256k bricks.
It could also mean 200k bricks, and 56k other objects.

This is new to me... although I kind of expected a larger brick count some day, and I haven't downloaded V15 yet.

Ooh!

First person to place 256k fence bricks wins a cake!

OMGASDFHGJKLAJSJDHS THAT IS SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Either, the limit is still 128k but the maximum amount to ghost rose to 256k to avoid problems OR the k means something entirely different.

We were just able to place 128k bricks (V15), simple workaround is to type this in the server console:
$Pref::Server::BrickLimit = 256000;

Now we are over 128k, without a problem.

But somehow it will be resetted every server restart to 128k. Oo

I got to 240k with the picket fences. I'll give it another go when I get back from swim practice.

(note that everything was maxed and the resolution set at 1920x1080)

specs:

Intel Core i5 750 @ 3.4 ghz

4GB of patriot sector 5 @ 1600 mhz

Ati Radeon HD 5850 (slightly overclocked)

7200 RPM Western Digital Cavier

That's about everything that would effect it performance wise.

I could really care less what the brick limit is, I can't even reach the current one, building or loading.

well i was hoping for something like 512k to be a new limit.

but this one works quite well.
at least a clan can have a build go for more then 4 days lol

One time someone came up with a complaint on brick limit complaining about how "small" it is, and Badspot said that bumping the limit to double what it is now wouldn't stop complainers.

128,000 bricks is many times that of what I've had in real life though, and I think it's fantastically huge as it is.

Same, I cannot imagine how people would need higher, 128k is a forget ton.

Would you tell me what type of RAM? DDR3? How about the graphics card? GDDR5 or SDRAM?

It's still nice knowing that some of the more major builds people make will be much harder to reach the limit with.

I assumed that it was fairly obvious.

As with the the other cards in the 5800 class, this card has GDDR5 memory. It is the little brother to the 5870 and can out-perform Nvidia's cards expect for the 480 and the gtx 295.

As for the RAM, every core i5 and i7 processor support dual or triple channel DDR3. There is also the blatant fact that DDR2 RAM cannot reach 1600 mhz.
