Author Topic: 256K Bricks????  (Read 3069 times)

I would assume that the average host wouldn't be able to handle 256k bricks.

If the bricks were spread out, then couldn't they handle it?

I got to 240k with the picket fences. I'll give it another go when I get back from swim practice.

(note that everything was maxed and the resolution set at 1920x1080)

specs:

Intel Core i5 750 @ 3.4 ghz

4GB of patriot sector 5 @ 1600 mhz

Ati Radeon HD 5850 (slightly overclocked)

7200 RPM Western Digital Cavier

That's about everything that would effect it performance wise.

But is it.....mac? :cookieMonster:

One time someone came up with a complaint on brick limit complaining about how "small" it is, and Badspot said that bumping the limit to double what it is now wouldn't stop complainers.

128,000 bricks is many times that of what I've had in real life though, and I think it's fantastically huge as it is.
Hi. I indeed am happy for this update.

so is there something special I need to do to get this working?

I have a .bls file with 129K+ bricks in it, but whenever I load, it always says brick limit reached.  even after Ive set the brick limit before starting the map.

anyone got this to work yet?

It's a bug that when a server is started, no matter if you set 256k bricks before starting server, you got to manually change the variable to change it:
Code: [Select]
$Pref::Server::BrickLimit = 256000;

The limit will always be 128k bricks. Yes, you can make builds over that number, but after 128k the other bricks stops rendering so you cannot see them (it's useless to continue).

You can go higher now that the ghost limit has been increased with v15.

1k bricks and 255k other stuff.

Well I guess this will probably stop the complaining from BAC's elitists.

So I change this after starting the server and -before- loading my build?

You got it perfectly right.

So now you can have 256k visible bricks ?

Build without limit!

Build without limit!

There's always a limit unfortunately.
