Author Topic: I don't think my Anti-Virus Software is working correctly  (Read 2271 times)

Im using "Test String Viruses" to see if my AntiVirus software is working properly. I do this atleast once a month.
I did this recently to test my AntiVirus Software (Norton Internet Security & Kaspersky AntiVirus 2010 & Malwarebytes AntiMalware). Norton was working on the clock last night, but now its not detecting the "Test Strings" even during a scan. Kaspersky works on scan but it takes atleast 30 seconds to realize that there is a 'virus' in the system. Kaspersky also does not display messages that there is a 'virus' in the system. I feel that this will become a problem in the near future when its a real virus and not a "Test String".

Norton sucks it thinks most things are harmful and when something is harmful it comes up saying that it's not.
Get AVG.

Even if Norton was the problem which is not. my computer would always have Kaspersky running.
And I ensure you...Kaspersky kicks virus ass. And I dun liek AVG D:

AVG is free and is better then Kaspersky and Norton together, besides having 2 anti-viruses running at the same time creates false positives.

Pfft. Let me show you how Kaspersky kicks ass.

Gentlemen, This is not a test string. But, look at is custom border, the color that says "You're Computer is so screwed", And the description of the Virus, Plus it contains a awsome pin poking alarm that makes all the other AntiVirus's jelous when thay hear it :U

Also, don't ask me where I get the viruses, its classified :cookieMonster:

Edit: Searchprotocallhost.exe is a default program for Windows. Its what the Virus uses to cause havoc.

I just use Avast, I usually keep the file system shield off, it makes EVERYTHING slow. With that shield turned on, it takes about ten seconds just to open the UAC thing. Extremely annoying, so I just keep it off. As long as you're not stupid you shouldn't get viruses. Even using a basic firewall and AV.
