Author Topic: I think Steam just gave me Half-Life 2 free?  (Read 914 times)

I was downloading the Half-Life 2 demo, when my little brother killed the internet with his wireless headset. When I tried to resume it right after the connection came back, right underneath the demo was the official, real Half-Life 2. Everything seemed to be there, even the fact that it would take longer for this to load then the HL2 demo, Lost Coast, and Deathmatch.

Is this false, or am I one hell of a lucky guy?

no, the demo makes the full game appear on your games list
but if you try to play it it will say purchase

Huh?

Why does it do that?

to tickle your buns

To encourage you to buy it

It got my hopes up the first time I saw it. ;-;

Then again, it was after my brother killed the internet and Steam froze. The demo then froze for a while and Half-Life 2 appeared

To encourage you to buy it
Give the game for free, and my might consider buying it <3

Huh?

Why does it do that?
Because it mounts some of its data to run the demo.  It's like when someone with a game on another account logs into an account without that game, it's there as a preload.

killed the internet with his wireless headset
wat

Ontopic: I got my hopes up at that, to.
