I think emoticons are a bad influence on new people here. They see the pretty little pictures and feel they should use them. Hence why there's so many "lol

Get anything like Firefox 'Adblock' and then add them to the filtered list.

I assumed doing that just disables the emoticons word-replace filters from working.
