Author Topic: Hey, look, I divided by zero!  (Read 4765 times)

With the following assumptions:
0 x 1 = 0
0 x 2 = 0
The following must be true:
0 x 1 = 0 x 2

Dividing by zero gives:
0 x 1 =0 x 2
00

Simplified, yields:
1 = 2

Well...yeah, they're pretty much the same thing, just written differently. Mine is a bit more complex, but the point is the same. I digress.

The fact that you understood something not even correct is beyond me.
... It is correct..

... It is correct..
Not really, but whatever. It's just a roundabout way to break a rule.

Divide by (a-b), which is zero in this equation, and the result is...

 Dood, look.

Edit: Aw, im late.

Yes, but don't say that one cannot pull "2b" "out of your ass." He had it on both sides, so it can count.
Yes, but without 2b it wouldn't work.

He pulled 2b out of his ass.

I kind of understood what he was trying to get across but understood that it was done incorrectly. So in this case mis-understanding is, in fact, understanding.

Yes, but without 2b it wouldn't work.

He pulled 2b out of his ass.
This is math, not science (though they are related). In science, you cannot pull things "out of your ass," but in just math it is okay.

And "adding" the 2b part is where the equation really failed. That made it 0 = 0, so the rest was unneeded.

Dividing by zero is infinite.

Anything times zero is zero

Zero divided by zero would be anything

Zero divided by anything would be zero.

Case closed

not infinite, undefined.
