Spy's sappin mah sentry!

Okay this is more of a question about TF2. I don't know how to use the sapper very well, do i have to be un-cloaked or in disquise to do it? Or am i just doing it wrong?

What i do is that i go into cloak mode and bring out my sapper and click. Is that what i'm supposed to do? I only managed to do it once but i have no idea how i did it, I just started button mashing.

Disguise and walk up to the building and click where the white silhouette is at.

Here's a hint: don't look directly at anybody, and don't panic if they start shooting you in a spycheck attempt. Just shrug it off.
