That's casual light ray emmiters, i think.

Also, comr4de, lovey design. Only thing i can think of that's negative about this is that the hull doesn't exactly look that strong.

My thoughts are that since the vessel was designed to explore the vast reaches of space, the ship wouldn't be getting into battles with other ships. This means that the hull didn't have to be as strong, and fuel tanks that are bigger than the usual ship-to-tank ratio. (They could also be placed on the exterior without danger).
