Author Topic: Hex Colorset, and a Question.  (Read 1730 times)

So my suggestion, I guess could be directed at Badspot as well. I'd like to see a full Hex Color Set. Something with a ridiculous amount of colors, like this. There's a problem, though. Apparently, each color set can only have a total of like, 64 colors or something, or else the server crashes. This, to me, just seems like something that should be... "upped" a bit, y'know? Maybe not straight to a full Hex Color Set, but MORE than just that, to allow more colors. This brings me to my question : Why is it that 64 colors is the limit? Why can't there be more? What's restraining this? At the moment, I'm sure it seems impossible, but I get the feeling that it's something that could probably could be changed in the future. I mean, it wouldn't be the most advanced thing a video game has done up till now.

So. Could someone manage, even though this is probably a ridiculously challenging request, to come up with a way to allow more colors in a color set on Blockland?

its the engine the game runs on, people keep demanding things this ngine cant handle, i remember it used to be so simple; people were happy just to have a jeep and 20 colors

Gosh, this sounds if everyone wants more but theres never enough...

I don't support this idea here.
The paint "panel" (as I call it) is already big enough at 64 colors. Who needs more then 64 colors anyways?

Hex colors I would like to  see though, but I doubt it's ever going to happen because

Who needs more than 64 colors? I do, dammit! Why do people prefer different color sets? Because they're all different, they always have something in particular that people want. I like the monochrome color set because it's only monochrome, I like Yuki's color set because it has a good variety, but then I try other color sets that don't have as much variety... it seems like if we had a hex color set, it would settle it once and for all. People wouldn't be able to do better than that. And maybe we wouldn't be able to go straight to  a hex color set, but even a step forward to have a few more colors than 64, seems like it would help.

But really now, that seems like something that would be hard to upgrade, but it sounds so simple... So in other words, an engine upgrade would be needed for more colors to be available?

@colornial killer : Well, welcome to the human race. We get bored with things. We want more. It's greed, buddy. But it seems like useful greed to me. It seems like greed that would get us places, and allow us to have a better game with better builds.

12 (4 shades of primary's (RGB)
12 (4 shades of secondaries (YCM)
4 Shades of orange
4 Shades of gray

Make a duplicate with half trans

You get 64.

Tada?

What about a sepia scale, though? And I really like monochrome, I prefer more shades of gray than that. And I feel like Magenta will probably need more shades than 4 in order to cross into purple enough to satisfy me.

I don't think that would really do it that easily.

browns are needed :D

i still prefer default, yet a few browns on the back with some other colors is helpful

i don't get how people need so many colors though

You've been here since '09, you know nothing. I remember when people were happy just to be able to jet. We didn't have many of these fancy au-to-mo-biles you youngins' have today. We had our laggy ATV and a plane that you couldn't get in half the time. And we were happy and pressed on!

i like having no jets :D
makes it better to play in i say, DMing/building

As do I, but that was the only transportation we had back in Vanilla days.

Why don't people get that dark orange is brown!?

You'd have this:

Orange
Dark Orange
Brown
Dark Brown

I highly doubt torque can't handle more than 64 colors. It's just datablock spam past there though.

It's limited to 64 mostly because of idoits wanting 99999999999999999999999999999 99999 colors.

hmm, you're right that brown is orange :o
